Stefan Gritsch, b. 1951 is a painter and graphic artist. He creates object art and prints. He was Professor at the Lucerne School of Art and Design and lives and works in Lenzburg, Switzerland. The materials of painting, paint and canvas, denote more than the basic materials in the work of Stefan Gritsch. Their sensual properties form the spiritual center of his work.

Fascinated by the phenomenon of skin, for him, when painting, layer by layer, the colors lay down on the canvas as paint skins and turn the painting into a body. This understanding of the work is already manifested in the late 1970s in drawings which motifs are veristically depicted skins.
