Born 1981 in Basel, CH. Lives and works in Zurich, CH. Lena Maria Thüring completed her Master in Fine Arts at the ZHdK in 2014 and has since been teaching at the Institute of Art at the FHNW in Basel. Thüring uses various media such as video, sound, photography, performance, and installation to question social systems and their underlying constructions. Spoken language is the most important medium in which she makes visible processes of history production and negotiates issues of linguistic articulation, collective and personal memories, social structures, gender and identity. In 2013 she was awarded the Manor Art Prize and exhibited in a solo show at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Basel. In 2015, the Kunstmuseum Bern dedicated an exhibition to her in the Fenster zur Gegenwart. For the Zurich Reformation anniversary, Lena Maria Thüring produced the film "Arbeit als Liebe.
